Résumé : |
The basic interest in this dissertation is to conduct a substantial exploration of the absence of morality in T.S. Eliot‟s The Waste Land. This dissertation endeavors to exhibit Post-World War immorality and the way The Waste Land deals with it. The poem is a realistic depiction of European contemporary life. The goal is to determine how T. S. Eliot viewed the world around him and portrayed it in his masterpiece. In this regard, this study is helpful to convey the absent spirit, religion and culture in the poem. It also illustrates the 1920‟s immorality and the way it is presented in a literary work such as The Waste Land. This study focuses mostly on analyzing the different scenes and images of the barren world and immoral life the modern people went through, most notably, in religion, human relationships and sexuality. Eliot sees the world as fragmented and full of despair. Consequently, the fragmented way in which he presents his poem reflects the fragmentation in the lives of the people of The Waste Land.
