Résumé : |
The present study aims at investigating the role of self-regulation on the students '
development of foreign language vocabulary, and to see whether teachers help their students
to learn vocabulary, and guide them to develop their foreign language vocabulary to Master 1
Didactic students at the department of Letters and English language at university of Frere
Mentouri Constantine 1. In order to check this relation, we have hypothesised that if Master 1
Didactic students use self- regulation effectively, then there would be a development in their
foreign language vocabulary. To verify the validity of this hypothesis we have carried out the
main investigation, that is divided into two questionnaires: the students' questionnaire and
teachers' questionnaire. The first one is self-regulation capacity in developing vocabulary,
self-regulation questionnaire of Tseng; Dornyei; and Schmitt (2006). Composed of 20 items
and administered to 48 Master 1 Didactic students among 80 students at the department of
Letters and English Language at University Fréres Mentouri Constantine. The second
questionnaire consists of 13 questions given to four Master 1 Didactic teachers among 8
teachers. The discussion of the results has shown that using self- regulation develops Master 1
Didactic students ‘ foreign language vocabulary, and teachers help their students to develop
their foreign language vocabulary through encouraging them, and guiding them to use
vocabulary and vocabulary learning strategies in their learning process. The hypothesis was
confirmed in that students use self-regulation in their learning of foreign language vocabulary. |
