Résumé :	t The current work intends to investigate the difficulties first year biotechnology and plant genomics students at the Department of Human Sciences and Life at Al-Ikhwa Mentouri University; face when they translate scientific texts which contain technical terms, from English into Arabic. Technical translation is chosen because it is; not only an important area in scientific translation, but also an effective means to acquire modern sciences, because of the quick development that science and technology have shown; in addition, students from this class have dealt with scientific and technical translation because they learnt English as a subject matter for a period of time at the university. Furthermore, technical terms have been translated into many languages, and the Arabic language is included for facilitating the understanding of any scientific research. The data shows that students face some difficulties when they translate some of those terms. However, they are able to translate some of the technical terms.
