Résumé : |
The present research attempts to give a post-colonial examination of Chinua Achebe’s
novel Things Fall Apart (1958). The novel deals fairly with the issues of heritage and identity
as major themes, and it explores their importance in the lives of the Nigerian people in particular
and Africa in general. Additionally, it delves into the period during which the European colonial
interference and presence took place in Nigerian, in the Igbo community especially. What is
more, it explores the vast impact on the indigenous peoples’ heritage, culture and identity.
Moreover, this paper highlights Chinua Achebe’s character as a diligent intellectual, who, on
one hand, committed his intellectual efforts to search, defend and capture the African heritage
and identity in many of his works. On the other hand, he sought to debunk the European false
views and stereotypes regarding the Nigerian tribal community. |
