Résumé : |
This dissertation studies the American foreign policy since the end of the Cold War. I I
have mainlconcentrated on the making of U.S foreign policy during the Bush administration,
specifically his first term (2001-2004). The attacks of 9/11 were the most important events
throuhgout U.S history. The Bush administration perpetuated two major wars; the war against
Afghanistan in 2001 and the invasion of Iraq in 2003.The first chapter represents a
background of U.S foreign policy during the Cold War and the New World Order. The second
chapter examines the Bush Doctrine, its definition, its elements and aims. The main focus of
the third chapter is the neo-conservative agenda; studying it as an ideology, and as the most
influential group in the U.S foreign policy making and the impact of this agenda on invading

Oliver Twist, |

Résumé : |
This research is an attempt to analyze the effects of the Industrial Revolution onVictorian
Britain, through Dickens’ Oliver Twist. This study contains a series of evidences which prove
that even though industrialization helped in the prosperity of the British society, it also created a
huge numbers of discrepancies related to the poor people. Many of the latter lived under
unsanitary and dirty conditions which led to mortal diseases, social injustices and unbearable
conditions of living for all the classes in Britain. Dickens, the realistic novelist, used his pen and
his talent to depict the world in which he lived as a strategy in order to make people become
aware about the real conditions in which they lived and pushed them to claim social reforms and
solutions. Dickens also depicted the real image of the living conditions in the workhouse and how
children were exploited.
This research will display that Dickens strongly opposed the New Poor Law of 1834 and
the creation of workhouses. It will show also that Dickens also rejected child labor because of his
childhood experiences especially in the workhouse |
