It is well known that writing is regarded as a thinking process. Although English
written expression has always been considered as an important skill in teaching and learning,
English teachers and students often encounter various challenges. For teachers, correcting
student′s writing significantly increases their work. However, for students, some hold a
negative attitude toward writing or feel powerless to meet the teacher′s expectations, because
we need significant teaching techniques to teach or learn this skill, as to incorporate elements
of cooperative language learning. Therefore, the present dissertation aims at helping second
year students at English department, improve their level of writing performance by
implementing the cooperative learning strategy. Two questionnaires are directed to both
teachers and students from the department of languages at Mentouri University of
Constantine, in order to attest our hypothesis. The findings gathered in this study confirmed
the importance of cooperative learning in getting efficient results regarding the writing skills,
the hypothesis reported in this piece of research. In other words, the difficulties faced by the
students while writing may be solved if we get aware about the importance of using
cooperative learning elements as a teaching/ learning strategy by both teachers and learners. |
