This study aims at finding the causes behind students‟ misuse of using Information Gap
Activities during oral expression, whether students are aware of the difficulty of speaking
skill. It also aims at increasing students‟ awareness of the importance of learning the speaking
skill and the use of good strategies to enhance it. This dissertation seeks to test the following
hypothesis: “If second year students of English Department at the University of Des
FréresMentouri, Constantine are taught through information gap activities they would
improve their speaking skill”. In order to test the hypothesis and to reach the goals of this
research work, some qualitative data are gathered through the use of two questionnaire that
are directed to second year oral expression teachers and second year university students as a
foreign language at the university of Des FréresMentouri Constantine. The obtained results
show that students need to learn speaking through different activities: role play, discussions,
information gap, oral presentations and others. Consequently, this research corroborates the
suggestions that are the importance of the correct use of information gap activities during oral
expression lessons may enhance students‟ speaking skill. |
