This thesis deals with the numerical modelling of laminar natural and mixed convection flows of different anofluids types. Numerical simulations were performed using Ansysfluent software, considering three configurations: the square cavity, the cubic cavity, and the inclined channel. The numerical results obtained were validated with those found in the literature. A good agreement was obtained. We present three parts grouping the treated configurations: The first part concerns the study of 2-D natural convection in a square cavity equipped with a pentagonal obstacle, filled with a nanofluid (Cu/Water). The effects of the Rayleigh number Ra, the volumetric concentration of nanoparticles , the aspect ratio r and the orientation of the block were discussed The second part examines the 3-D mixed convection inside a cubic cavity with a heated square-section obstacle. This study compares the single carbon nanotube CNT/water nanofluid and the hybrid CNT-Copper/water nanofluid with different concentration ratios, Richardson number Ri, Reynolds number Re, and block aspect ratio r. In this case, three correlations have been developed to predict the average Nusselt number Nu's variation as a function of the chosen parameters. The third part deals with the numerical study of laminar mixed convection with entropy generation in an inclined channel with four heated blocks, traversed by a hybrid Al2O3- Cu/water nanofluid. In this part, the use of a two-phase mixing model approach was considered to demonstrate the effects of several parameters such as Ri, Re, , θ (the channel tilt), and the position of the block on Nusselt number, entropy generations, and Bejan number. Two different correlations were also determined to express Nu's average values for the position of aligned and non-aligned blocks.

transfer in an annulus-disc metal hydride reactor used for hydrogen solid storage. A twodimensional mathematical model of a simple geometry consisting of the equations governing the phenomenon of hydrogen storage has been proposed, in which the Navier-Stokes equations were used in addition of the source term with the Forchheimer’s modification, to adequately describe fluid flow in the packed bed considered as porous medium. The equations of continuity, momentum and energy were solved using the finite volume method; by accommodating the commercial code ANSYS FLUENT through user-defined functions (UDF), to numerically solve the equations governing the sorption processes studied.
The numerical model results were compared to experimental results reported in the literature for the case of a simple regular geometry. A good agreement was found between present calculations results and experimental data.
Numerical simulations have shown that the pressure drop in the metal hydride packed bed
caused by the fluid inertia can be considerable in this flow type. Moreover, the hydrogen sorption time depends on the configuration and geometrical dimensions of the heat exchange device. Thus, the minimization of absorption or desorption time is reduced to the reliability of the heat exchange process in the packed bed reactor. In addition, the conductivity is a key factor in the efficient design of the metal hydride reactors.

We treat the problem related to heat transfer by natural convection through a three-dimensional numerical simulation study of two identical blocks heated and separated by a distance d, simulating the air cooling (assumed incompressible Newtonian) electronic components in a cuboid cavity . Each block is maintained at a temperature Tc (hot), which varies depending on the Rayleigh number, in the center of the bottom wall of the enclosure, the remainder of the surface is assumed adiabatic, while the other walls are maintained at a constant temperature Tf (cold).
The presentation of the physical model is translated into mathematical equations in the form of partial derivatives (E.D.P), which regulates the transport of energy by molecular motion in the cavity. Based on certain assumptions for which these equations are valid, these mathematical expressions mainly include fundamental laws: conservation of mass, momentum, and energy. According to the complex nature of these equations (nonlinear and coupling velocity-pressure), we are facing the numerical resolution. In this context, a computer code was developed at the base of Fortran language, and validated by the work found in the literature.
In the first part, our effort is focused on the laminar flow trying to clear the influence of the effects of the Rayleigh number, spacing, and aspect ratio of the length and the width components of the physical behavior of fluid, such as the flow and heat fields. In the second part, the transitional arrangements made in our study through early detection of hydrodynamic and thermal instabilities, however, we discuss the spacing influence, reports form the length and the width components of the flow bifurcation.
Finally, stability diagrams were established according to these parameters.
