The privileged geographical situation of Algeria confers a great floristic richness which represents an asset for phytochemistry, moreover until our days the Algerian population resorts to the traditional practices using plants to cure themselves. The present work is divided into two parts, the first one devoted to an ethnobotanical
investigation on the medicinal plants used in the region of Constantine and Mila and the second one includes the phytochemical study of the endemic North African plant Bellevalia mauritanica Pomel, as well as the evaluation of its biological activities in vitro. The ethnobotanical investigation of the region of Constantine and Mila, allowed us to obtain the following results: out of 102 plants mentioned, 28 new species, 31 common plants with 151 new therapeutic applications, in comparison with other regions in Algeria were mentioned and 12 new species including an endemic plant Zygophyllum cornutum Coss., 75 known plants with 369 new medicinal uses, in comparison with other regions of the Mediterranean basin. The phytochemical study of Bellevalia mauritanica Pomel by liquid chromatography coupled to a hybrid ion trap and time-of-flight mass spectrometer (LC-MS-IT-TOF) indicated the presence of 91 compounds in the different phases of the crude extract of the underground part and a validated method of liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), using 37 standards revealed the content of phenolic acids rather than flavonoids, in fact the AcOEt phase contains caffeic acid (1240.7 µg/g extract) and the CHCl3 phase contains vanillin (2048.5 µg/g extract) in high amounts, as well as the evaluation of its Antioxidant, anticholinesterase and antibacterial in vitro activities showed that among the tested extracts, the AcOEt phase shows good antioxidant activity, especially in ABTS•+ (2, 2'- azinobis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic), DPPH• (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) and DMSO (dimethylsulfoxide) alkaline superoxide anion, considerable inhibition of acetylcholinesterase and moderate antibacterial effect.

Biologie Résumé :
The present work aims to the valorization of Algerian flora by phytochemical et biological investigations on two species : Iris unguicularis Poir. and Dittrichia viscosa (L.) Greuter. This study allowed to identify several phytochemical compounds and to record satisfactory results for different biological activities tested for this two species. LC-MS IT-TOF analysis of the different extracts (AI, CI et BI) of Iris unguicularis Poir. species led to the quantification of 70 compounds, while the LC-MS/MS analysis accomplished by a previously validated method by using 37 standards revealed the presence of 17 phenolic compounds and the richest extracts were, AI and CI, AI extract was mainly composed by: 4-OH-benzoic acid (2218.2 µg analyte/g extract), syringinic acid (1218.6 µg analyte/g extract), protocatechuique acid (1080. 4 µg analyte/g extract) and p-coumaric acid (1071.2 µg analyte/g extract), the CI extract was mainly composed by: naringinia (1453.4 µg analyte/g extract) and ferulic acid (1088, 41 µg analyte/g extract). Results showed also the high antioxidant an antibacterial activities of these extracts . Structural elucidation of isocostic acid isolated from the species Dittrichia viscosa (L.) Greuter, was performed by NMR technique (1H and 13C). The results of activities carried out on this compound revealed its apoptotic effect by acting as pro-oxidant which allows to generate the superoxide anion in one hand and on the other hand by its effect on mitochondrial swelling. The viability of cells via MTT assay tested against U118, Caco-2, SKOV-3 and HDF lines showed that isocostic acid had a significant effect on cell proliferation by causing a dose-dependent cytotoxicity especially against U118 line in which proliferation is clearly decreased between 100μg and 200 μg with an IC50 of 72.32 μg/ml.

In this context, ligands were obtained following defined synthetic pathways, with NMR (1H, 13C, 31P) preliminary characterization of intermediate products at every step in addition to masse higt resolution spectroscopy ESI+ and X ray diffraction on monocristal for our target ligands. Pd(II) Complexes were obtained, by direct mettalation. Pd(II) Complexes have been characterized by NMR spectroscopy and X ray diffraction on monocristal and their coordination chemistry studied. Finally, we carry out some preliminary catalytic tests in Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction with the obtained ligands complexes and as a prolongation to our work, we project to do more catalytic investigations.
