They are susceptible to various types of localized corrosion, and particularly to pitting which appears under certain conditions when the material is used in contact with a chloride medium.
The objective of our work is the study of the influence of the deformation by traction and rolling on corrosion in NaCl 3% of the stainless steels 304L and 430, by taking in considerations various rates of
lengthening.
Techniques used in this study are polarization and electronic microscopy, which allowed us, to separately analyze the various stages of development of pitting (starting, propagation, repassivation) and to analyze the effect of the deformation on the cited parameters.
Obtained results show that the repassivation potential of 304L stainless steel decrease when the rate of deformation by rolling increase; it is the same with the potential of corrosion, implying a greater susceptibility to corrosion, especially by pitting. It should be noted that the various rates of deformation
applied to the 304L, do not have large influences on the pitting potentials, which remain practically
identical.
Relatively to corrosion behavior of materials in NaCl 3% after traction tests at various lengthening rates, let us note that the repassivation potential does not depend directly on the rate of lengthening in the case of steel 430, which is not the case of 304L steel. Concerning 304L and 430 steels, noblest corrosion potential corresponds to the weakest lengthening rate. In the case of A % = 2.18, corrosion potential of 304L steel is nobler compared to the other lengthening rates and in the case of 430 steel, the noblest corrosion potential was recorded for the lengthening rate A % = 1.82.
Finally, a comparative study of the behavior of steel 304L and Ti6Al4V alloy in 30g/l solution showed that Ti6Al4V is more resistant than 304L stainless steel under the conditions considered. Consequently, the ability to assess the
magnitude of the stress concentration is prerequisite to dealing with the fatigue damage problem of
tubular joints, and to lead to reliable tubular joints.
The stress concentrations in offshore structures usually occur at the intersections of tubular members.
For some joints, the stress concentration can produce a maximum stress at the intersection as high as
thirty times the nominal stress acting in the members, and thus increase the risk of fatigue crack in the
tubular joints.
This work aims to study the distribution of the constraints and this article aims to study the distribution
of the constraints and the “hot-spot” points in the welded tubular joints subjected to a combined
loading of traction and rotational bending (inflection in the plan, inflection except plan and traction), to
simulate the real loading better. A. The objective of our work is to perform an optimization study of fracture and damage of sandwich beams with composite laminated coating oriented at [+θ°/-θ°]3s , [+45°/-45°]3s and [0°/90°]3s loaded in three points bending. This task was carried out by means of stochastic methods such as genetic algorithms for locating the optimum of a
function in the space of parameters valorised. The overall law behavior of sandwich structure into two failure modes of face yielding and face wrinkling is determined by the use of mathematical approaches based on the formulation of the equilibrium equations and laminated
structures theory taking into account transverse shear stresses and sandwish beams theory. Stresses in each component layer coatings, upper and lower, are calculated in accordance with maximum stress criterion. The changing of the material coating nature and research of the orientation effect of the fiber reinforcement and transverse shear stresses are used to determine the performance of the sandwich structure into two failure modes of face yielding and face wrinkling. In order to increase the performance of sandwich beams, in three points ending, an optimization program based on the principles of genetic algorithms has been developed to maximize the tensile strength in the two ailure modes of face yielding and face wrinkling, depending on the orientation of plies : 0°, + 45°, - 45 ° and 90°. The equations used to evaluate
the individuals in population results from the classical laminate theory with discrete variables.
Operators of genetic algorithms (selection, crossover and mutation) are applied to the children of a hundred generations. To achieve optimal solutions, the result appeared effective despite all the non deterministic nature of genetic algorithms. But, to achieve maximum effectiveness, it is important to choose smartly the parameters of genetic algorithms depending on the nature of the problem studied and the mechanical characteristics of the function to be optimized.
