Résumé : |
The present study aims at investigating the role Cooperative Language Learning in motivating
students to produce good paragraphs. For checking this correlation, the following hypothesis
is put forth: if first year students use Cooperative Language Learning while writing, they will
be motivated to develop their writing skills. In other words, the research attempts to figure out
whether using such type of learning in writing sessions would motivate the less motivated
students and strengthen those who are already motivated to enhance their ways of writing. To
verify the validity of this hypothesis, we have administered a teachers’ questionnaire for the
sake of knowing their points of view as far as C.L.L is concerned. We have also conducted a
pre-test and post-test with a sample of 25 first year English students at the Department of
Languages, University of Constantine. In the pre-test, students were asked to write a
paragraph individually. They were also asked some questions for the sake of knowing their
attitudes toward cooperative learning. After giving them a training course about cooperative
learning and its values, we conducted a post-test with the same sample. They were asked to
write a paragraph cooperatively, in groups of four. Besides, they were asked some questions
that point out the students’ responses after experiencing C.L.L. Despite the limited scope of
the study, the obtained results from analyzing the teachers’ questionnaire and students pre-test
and post-test confirm our aforementioned hypothesis |
