Résumé : |
Translation is a discipline that has become so important in all walks of life. It is the tool used by peoples to communicate and understand each other. Governments, business companies, universities or even organizations depend on it to understand each other and exchange knowledge. Therefore, university students of foreign languages should be aware of it and try to master this art and science.
This research paper aims at bringing the attention of teachers and students on the importance of achieving textual meaning equivalence while translating, as translation is not merely a word-for-word replacement. But, there is meaning behind the original/source text to be transmitted to the audience. To attain such an aim, some useful strategies are suggested in the theoretical part to solve this problem. Therefore, a translation test was administered to students of second year Master students (year 2012-2013), at Mentouri university, Constantine. The purpose of the test is to investigate whether students are aware of these strategies by seeing if they implement them or not. The results of this innovative investigation have confirmed the assumption which states that second year Master students are not aware of the strategies directed to solving textual meaning equivalence |
