Résumé : |
This dissertation is intended to investigate Computer-Mediated Communication as a new and
effective method that would be used to motivate students to perform better orally by
enhancing their vocabulary. It is by means of two questionnaires administered to both
teachers and third year LMD students at the department of English that we have collected the
data. The questionnaires were mainly designed to identify the evaluation of the
students’skills, investigate the current methods of teaching oral expression and to check the
students’ and teachers’ views toward CMC and if it is feasible at university. The teachers are
selected from three different universities; Constantine, Batna and Oum El Bouaghi. They have
been asked to evaluate the effectiveness of Computer-Mediated Communication on enhancing
the students’ vocabulary and speaking skills. We hypothesized that if teachers of oral
expression use CMC before starting the classroom discussion, they will probably enhance
their students’ speaking. The results obtained from this study show that Computer-Mediated
Communication is a motivational tool that can be used in our context to enhance the students’
vocabulary. The number of students inside the classroom needs to be reduced in order to
make the materials available for all the students.Eventually, this study aims at suggesting to
teachers a new method that we believe would be helpful in improving the students’ speaking
skills. |
