This research aims to show the effects of socio-cultural factors on learning foreign languages. It deals with the difficulties that second year students of English face at University Mentouri Bros. during the learning process. It also aims to show the importance of the socio-cultural background in learning foreign languages, notably English. Our hypothesis says that, if second year students of English have sufficient social and cultural background, they will learn the foreign language easily. To collect data and check out the validity of our hypothesis, a questionnaire was administered to a random sample of second year students of English. The results obtained confirm our hypothesis, and show that the socio-cultural background is very important to learn foreign languages. |
