It also examines the attitudes of first-year English students at University of Frères Mentouri to problems that they face in learning English vocabulary. To achieve these aims, we hypothesize that if first-year English students at University of Frères Mentouri, Constantine practise extensively paraphrasing, they will be able to develop their mastery of English vocabulary. To check the validity of this hypothesis, a test and a questionnaire are administered to a random sample of first-year English students at University of Frères Mentouri, Constantine. The obtained results have revealed that students face many problems in acquiring English vocabulary.
