The present piece of research attempts to assess students’ opinions and attitudes towards the use of mnemonic devices and their efficiency in vocabulary acquisition. The aim, thus, is to shed light on the way we may improve students’ memory and help them retain information especially as regards vocabulary items. For this purpose two questionnaires are used: one for students and another for teachers. Students’ questionnaire is being used as the main tool for collecting data needed for this study. It is supposed to bring information about student’s vocabulary problems, strategies for acquiring vocabulary, awareness about mnemonic devices and teachers’ role in helping them to make progress in this field. Teachers’ questionnaire is being used a secondary tool to sustain the results obtained from the students’ questionnaire and to help us better understand the problem at hand from the point of view of more specialized agents: teachers |
