the language to speak fluently. The aim of this study is to investigate teachers’ and learners’
attitude the use of crossword puzzles as a teaching strategy to enhance learners’ vocabulary
knowledge of first-year students. At first, we believe that students enhance their vocabulary
knowledge through the use of language games like crossword puzzles. Besides, we think that
vocabulary acquisition is something that can be achieved through practice. The research
contains two parts: the theoretical part and the fieldwork. The first chapter deals with
vocabulary definition, its importance in mastering a language, steps of teaching and learning
vocabulary, and teachers' strategies to teach vocabulary. Then, we discussed the important
aspect of this study which is crossword puzzles; we have talked about the definition, history
and terminology, different types of crossword puzzles, and their educational value. In this
respect, a questionnaire and a test were used to test the validity of the hypothesis. First, the
teachers’ questionnaire aims at collecting data about teachers’ opinion about learners’
vocabulary knowledge and their psychological side, their teaching strategies to teach
vocabulary, and the use of crossword puzzles as a strategy to introduce new vocabulary items
to learners. Second, a test was administered to learners where they were asked to fill the themed
crossword puzzles with the correct words. The results show learners’ attitude toward the use of
crossword puzzles and their ability to acquire new words, especially the unfamiliar words and
crossword puzzles motivated them to make an effort to find the correct words of the puzzles,
which is the best practice to memorize the encountered words.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=15288 Teachers and Learners’ Attitude Toward the Use of Crossword Puzzles in Enhancing Learners’ Vocabulary Knowledge The Case of First-Year of Students of English University of “ Fréres Mentouri “, Constantine 1 [texte imprimé] / Houneida Bechlem, Auteur ; Amira Belgroun, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2021 . - 106 f. ; 30 cm.

enhance students’ vocabulary. Developing vocabulary seems to be a difficult purpose for both
native and non-native learners because of its broad scope. That is why, we hypothesized that
if learners of English use the listening skill to developing their vocabulary, they will
be able to collect and gain new vocabulary. So, data have been collected from a second year
master students at the department of English, Constantine University 1. Among 50 subjects of
the two tests and the questionnaire, only 30 subjects of the first test, 48 of the questionnaire
and 48 of the second test were taken into consideration on the basis of the analogy of their
answers. The results have revealed that the task of acquiring and developing vocabulary
seems to be facilitated due to the use of the listening skill. Therefore, this study highlights the
importance of listening to enhance vocabulary.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=3635 Vocabulary acquisition through listening: the case [texte imprimé] / Amina Meliani, Auteur ; Saida Zouaoui, Auteur ; Riad Belouahem, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2013 . - 68 f. ; 30 cm.

Titre : Attitudes towards the use of visual aids in teaching and learning vocabulary : The case of fourth year pupils at boughaba roukia middle school in constantine city Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Amal Tamene, Auteur ; Kamila Sid, Auteur ; Saliha Beloulmi, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2017 Importance : 99 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Sciences Vocabulary visual aids teaching/learning Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : Vocabulary is one of the most crucial language aspects that plays a significant role in all
language skills. Thus, teachers are required to pay more attention to this element and teach
it in a meaningful and comprehensible way. This research work is concerned with the
difficulties that fourth year middle school pupils face in acquiring new vocabulary items.
This research tries to explore the use of visual aids to facilitate vocabulary
teaching/learning in middle school. More precisely, the present study aims at investigating
the attitudes and perceptions of both teachers and pupils towards the effect of using visual
aids on vocabulary teaching/learning. Accordingly, we hypothesize that if middle school
teachers and learners hold positive attitudes towards the use of visual aids in teaching
vocabulary; this would help learners acquire new words more effectively. To achieve our
aim, we used two research tools: an interview for four English language teachers and a
questionnaire for forty students, randomly selected from Boughaba Roukia Middle School
at Constantine City. The findings obtained in this study revealed that the respondents hold
positive attitudes towards the use of visual aids, and disclosed their preferences mainly for
pictures and realia rather than the other kinds of visual aids. The findings confirm our
hypothesis and further show that the use of visual aids makes the learning/teaching process
more active, interesting, and enjoyableDiplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=4740 Attitudes towards the use of visual aids in teaching and learning vocabulary : The case of fourth year pupils at boughaba roukia middle school in constantine city [texte imprimé] / Amal Tamene, Auteur ; Kamila Sid, Auteur ; Saliha Beloulmi, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2017 . - 99 f. ; 30 cm.

Titre : The Effect of Using the Keyword Method on Developing EFL Pupils’ Retention of Vocabulary The Case of Second Year Middle School Pupils at “Ahmed Aroua” School in Ben Chergui, Constantine Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Rania Dif, Auteur ; Ibtissem Fakhet, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2020 Importance : 172 f. Format : 30cm. Note générale : Une copie electronique PDF disponible au BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Using the Keyword Vocabulary memory tool. Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : Vocabulary is of paramount importance in foreign language learning; it is intimately
connected to language skills that are necessary for achieving academic success. However,
developing a sufficient vocabulary stock represents a real challenge for EFL learners due to
their inabilities to store and commit new information to memory effectively, which impedes
its later recall. This makes the process of learning new words more complicated as learners
keep on experiencing difficulties with their memorisation and retention. It is for this reason
that many researchers in the field of vocabulary acquisition have been searching for the most
adequate learning tools that can be used to help learners acquire new vocabularies, among
these tools are mnemonic devices and in particular the keyword method. In essence, the aim
of the present research is to investigate whether the use of the keyword method has a positive
effect in promoting Second Year Middle School pupils‟ retention of vocabulary as well as to
explore the teachers‟ attitudes towards the usefulness of this mnemonic device. Accordingly,
we hypothesise that if both teachers and pupils make use of the keyword method as a
mnemonic device in teaching/ learning contexts, then the pupils‟ retention of vocabulary will
improve. In order to check the validity of our hypothesis, we relied on two means of research:
a quasi-experiment and the teachers‟ questionnaire. The test was administered to the study
group, which was randomly chosen and consisted of thirty (30) participants to serve as a
sample, whereas the questionnaire was shared with nine (09) Middle School teachers from
two different schools. The collected data was carefully analysed in order to identify the
present relationship between the implementation of the keyword method and vocabulary
retention. The findings of this investigation confirmed our suggested hypothesis since the use
of the keyword method strengthened the pupils‟ ability to retain new vocabulary effectively.
They also provided evidence that the teachers held positive attitudes towards the use of this
memory tool.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=13308 The Effect of Using the Keyword Method on Developing EFL Pupils’ Retention of Vocabulary The Case of Second Year Middle School Pupils at “Ahmed Aroua” School in Ben Chergui, Constantine [texte imprimé] / Rania Dif, Auteur ; Ibtissem Fakhet, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2020 . - 172 f. ; 30cm.
