common difficulties they may face while listening to English recordings. Moreover, it aims to
suggest some possible remedies for students’ weaknesses to assist them in enhancing their
listening aptitudes. This research depends on the view that if third year students might have a
low level in the listening skill and that they may face difficulties in dealing with English
recordings. The investigation tools used in this study are two questionnaires directed to both
Oral Expression teachers and third year LMD students, to gather data about listening in
general, besides a test administrated to third year students to assess their listening average
level. The educational settings in which this study took place, is the Foreign Languages

Titre : The role of authentic aural materials on listening comprehension : Case study of second year lmd students of mentouri brothers’ university Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Nachoua Kelkoula, Auteur ; Ahmed Moumene, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2015 Importance : 87 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Sciences Authentic Aural Listening Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : Listening plays a noteworthy role in daily communication and educational settings. In spite of its importance, listening comprehension has received slight concern in language instruction. Most EFL learners seek to be as fluent as native speakers, but they face many impediments. One way to provide real language listening practice is to introduce authentic aural materials in EFL classrooms. The chief aim of this dissertation was to scrutinize the influence of aural authentic materials on learners’ listening comprehension. The secondary purpose of the study was to pinpoint the quandaries that most EFL learners face when listening to a spoken language and to indicate the impact of authentic materials on their attitudes towards learning English. The present study hypothesizes that if teachers use authentic aural materials in teaching English language, then learners’ listening comprehension will be improved. In order to achieve our aim behind this study, we adopted a descriptive method and analyzed teachers and learners’ questionnaire. The learners involved in the study were taken randomly from the English department (second year LMD students) and teachers involved were oral expression teachers from the same Department. The major findings revealed that use of authentic listening materials in EFL classrooms helped enhance the learners’ listening comprehension ability. Hence, introducing authentic listening materials in EFL classrooms seems to be crucial to improve learners’ listening comprehension Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6276 The role of authentic aural materials on listening comprehension : Case study of second year lmd students of mentouri brothers’ university [texte imprimé] / Nachoua Kelkoula, Auteur ; Ahmed Moumene, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2015 . - 87 f. ; 30 cm.

Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie electronique PDF disponible au BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Listening difficulties strategies comprehension process language acquisition tone voice. Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The present research seeks to investigate and explore EFL students’ difficulties and strategy use
in listening comprehension. Also, to examine the attitudes of first year students of English in the
department of English at Frères Mentouri Constantine University. It was divided into two
chapters. The first one is devoted to the literary review, where it deals with the difficulties faced
by the students as well as the strategies they use to enhance their listening achievement. The
research questions were, First, what major difficulties that first year EFL students face in
listening comprehension are. The second question was, do first year EFL students use any
strategies so as to enhance their performance in listening comprehension? It has been
hypothesized that EFL learners may encounter difficulties associated with speech rate, lack of
background knowledge of the target language, and short term-memory. And, they may use
different kinds of strategies in order to enhance their achievement in listening comprehension. To
check for the validity of the settled hyotheses, a questionnaire was administered to first- year
EFL learners. After analyzing the data quantitatively and qualitatively the main results clearly
demonstrated that listening is the most difficult and complex skill to students. The obtained
results revealed that learners face some obstacles as well, related to: speech rate, memory
limitation, lack of prior knowledge and other difficulties. Furthermore, listening is far more
complicated, which necessitates the utilization of appropriate strategies in order to ameliorate the
learners’ achievement. However, The learners use some strategies but they still have difficulties.
Consequently, this confirms the hypotheses that have been formulated previouslyDiplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=15346 Exploring Listening Comprehension Difficulties And Strategies The Case Of First-Year Efl Students At Frères Mentouri, Constantine University [texte imprimé] / Yahia Dib, Auteur ; Nassima Berkani, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2021 . - 83 f. ; 30 cm.

In spite of its importance, listening comprehension has received slight interest in language instruction. Most EFL learners seek imitating native speakers. One way to provide real language listening practice is to implement authentic aural materials in EFL classrooms. The fundamental purpose of this study was to examine the influences of aural authentic materials on listening comprehension in learners of English as a foreign language. The secondary purposes of the study were to identify the potential problems that EFL learners often face when listening to the target language and to determine the effects of authentic materials on EFL learners‟ attitudes towards learning English. To achieve our aims behind this study, we adopted the analytic method; we analyzed teachers and learners‟ questionnaires in addition to some notes we have been taking for more information while learners were responding to the questionnaire. The learners involved in the present study enrolled in a twenty-week Listening and Speaking training. The teachers were taken randomly from the English department and the private institute ULC. The analysis of the questionnaires revealed that the use of authentic listening materials in EFL classrooms helped increase the learners‟ listening comprehension ability. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Sciences listening audio short stories speaking. Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : A major target for students in language learning is to speak and communicate properly. Audio-short stories can be a key to reach that goal. The present study aims at exploring the effects of listening to audio-short stories on improving the learners’ speaking skill. For this purpose, we hypothesized that if teachers use audio-short stories as a listening activity, they would enhance the learners’ speaking skill. In order to examine the research hypothesis, two questionnaires were administered to a sample of ten teachers of Oral expression course and fifty students of second year at the department of English, university of Mentouri Brothers- Constantine, in order to obtain the necessary information about their attitudes and opinions towards the use of audio-short stories in language learning and, particularly, in enhancing the speaking skill. The results showed that the majority of teachers and students believe that listening to audio-short stories is one of the most important activities that enable EFL learners to develop their speaking , which confirmed our research hypothesis. The use of audio-short stories could, hence, be applied as a successful teaching practice to develop speaking outcomes.
