The current study is an investigation about the expansion of English as a Foreign Language learners’ vocabulary repertoire via reading through the web. Three tools were used to collect the data: teachers’ questionnaire, which was administered to five teachers of oral and written expression at the Department of English, University of Constantine 1; and a questionnaire and TOEIC test (Test of English for International Communication) were administered to 25 randomly chosen students at the Department of English, University of Constantine1. In order to verify the hypothesis raised to this study: if vocabulary teaching were handled with care, students’ vocabulary stock would be enriched. Moreover, reading is key in vocabulary development. The results have revealed that, lack of vocabulary poses many difficulties for English as a Foreign Language learners’. Therefore, reading is more likely to help get rid of these difficulties. In the light of the results, the hypothesis is confirmed |
