Résumé : |
The present study is composed of two chapters. The first one is theoretical which represents a
review of Contrastive Analysis, Error Analysis and Students‘ writing difficulties as our field of
interest. The second one is practical devoted to the analysis of the elicited data. The study aims
to shed light on one of the main problems that 2nd year License students make when writing
their productions. They interfere most of the rules and ideas from their mother tongue ―Arabic‖
to English in their writings. The study attempts to detect students‘ errors and classified them
into different categories, and gave some recommendations to teachers of written expression to
help their students to get rid of this problem. To achieve this purpose we hypothesized that, if
2nd year License students at the University of Constantine Department of English interfere from
their mother tongue, they will produce an odd English writing. In order to verify this
hypothesis, questionnaire and test were designed to a random sample of 15 students of 2nd year
class at the department of English. The results obtained from the present research paper
showed that 2nd year License students do really interfere from their mother tongue, and they are
affected by the way of thinking of the Arabic language. On the basis of these results, the
hypothesis was confirmed in that students should avoid interference to have good English
writings. |
