The present research is an attempt to rise a certain degree of awareness into the master one
student‟s abilities in order to deduce the meaning of the euphemistic expressions in the
English language; thus, to be able to deal with them easily in the task of translation. The
sample gathered was exposed to three phases; a questionnaire, a pretest, and a posttest.
Students were given this number of tasks for the sake of identifying the difficulties that they
got in terms of translation methods, besides the problems that they face while rendering the
meaning of euphemistic expressions. Last but not least, to try to make them able to detect
euphemisms and to be, to some extent, competent in their meaning transference from English,
the acquired language, into Arabic, the mother tongue, without facing huge obstacles. The
results obtained, show that our samples‟ level in translating euphemistic expressions from
English into Arabic has developed to some extent, however; they need more practice in order
to reach a highest level. |
