The present study aims at identifying the correlations between writing anxiety, time management
and managing the writing task. It also seeks to determine the common causes of writing anxiety. It
was hypothesised that: The better are the student’s time management skills, the lower is his/her
writing anxiety. The better are the student’s writing task management skills, the lower is his/her
writing anxiety. The better are the student’s time management skills, the better are his/her writing
task management skills. In order to check the validity of our hypotheses, a five-likert scale
questionnaire was conducted to second year students of English at the University of Constantine 1
to know their frequencies of using time management, managing the writing task and writing anxiety
then a correlational study was conducted to confirm or reject our hypotheses. In addition, an
analysis of the causes of writing anxiety was carried out. The results have rejected two hypotheses
which are: the better are the student’s time management skills, the lower is his writing anxiety and
the better are the student’s writing task management skills, the lower is his writing anxiety.
However it confirmed one hypothesis which is: the better are the student’s time management skills,
the better are his writing task management skills. Moreover, the major common causes of writing
anxiety were identified. |
