Résumé : |
The present study aims at examining students’ and teachers’ use of mobile devices in general and
mobile applications in specific to develop vocabulary; it also purposes at exploring their attitudes
and perceptions regarding their use and effectiveness to enhance the latter. Lack of vocabulary
could create language barriers and breakdowns for EFL learners, and it is suggested that mobile
applications could provide learners with solutions. The research hypothesis which this study aims
at confirming is as follows: If students and teachers use mobile applications as vocabulary
learning/teaching tools, students’ vocabulary knowledge would be promoted. The research data
provided was gathered through two questionnaires. The first questionnaire was distributed to 45
master two students. Meanwhile, the second questionnaire was submitted to 9 Master two
teachers. Through the analysis of the collected research data, it was revealed and proven that both
students and teachers hold a positive attitude towards the use and the effectiveness of mobile
applications as a vocabulary teaching/learning instrument. However, when it comes to practice,
teachers’ vision is limited, and students do have some restrictions on the use of these
applications. Thus, they both need to take full advantage of them. For this purpose, some
implications and recommendations for teachers and students have been supplied. |
