Résumé : |
The present research aims at investigating the place of Communicative Language Teaching
in the educational system of a multilingual country (Cameroon). It mainly examines the
understanding, the implementation of the Communicative Language Teaching by teachers .To
fulfil this aim, it is hypothesized that communicative language teaching is the best approach
teachers in Cameroon can use to raise the learners knowledge and communicative proficiency
in English as a second language. In order to check the validity of this hypothesis, a
questionnaire is administered randomly to a sample of ten (10) teachers of English in
Cameroonian universities: the University of Yaoundé 1, Buea and the Higher teacher Trainee
College of Yaoundé The results obtained revealed that teachers have shown positive attitudes
towards the characteristics of Communicative Language Teaching and have recognised its
importance in the process of developing communicative competence of learners and use the
language as the main daily tool of interpersonal exchanges. Besides, they have adjusted some
complementary points they estimate relevant and that should be taken as a holistic asset to the
learning process. |
