British and American Studies Lincoln Johnson’s towards Blacks |
Index. décimale : |
420 Langue anglaise |
Résumé : |
This research probes into the stance of two prominent U.S. Presidents; Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson,
with regard to Blacks during the American Civil War till the Reconstruction period. It compares both Lincoln’s
and Johnson’s attitudes towards Blacks and tackles their policies that had affected Blacks’ life in a way or
another. This dissertation assesses Lincoln’s policy and appraises its aftermath on the threat of division on the
one hand, and on fighting slavery on the other hand. It also evaluates his successor Johnson’s racist attitudes,
which were dressed up in his attempts to get Blacks back into slavery under another name, and in the furnished
efforts to affirm Blacks as second class citizens.
The dissertation comprises two chapters; the first deals with Lincoln in the face of the threat of division, and
ultimately the abolition of slavery whereas the second chapter appoints to Johnson’s Reconstruction as it
portrays his term, which was characterized by racist attitudes; dressed up in his vetoes and his emphatic refusal
of establishing Blacks’ Civil Rights, the matter which created an increasing opposition between the Radicals
and the President. |

British and American Studies 9/11 Attack Invasion of Iraq 2003 U.S Foreign |
Index. décimale : |
420 Langue anglaise |
Résumé : |
The attacks of 9/11 made authoritative strength encouraged war on Iraq; these assaults
were the turning point for declaring war against Iraq. It has been indicated that the war on Iraq
could be understood as part of U.S. supremacy in the Middle East from global hegemony.
Simply stated, September 11th was basically a pretext for the Bush Administration to put into
practice a pre-existing war strategy toward Iraq. Furthermore, the Iraq invasion has been
described as part of a bigger plan of American imperial expansion, as an obvious capture for
oil and business earnings, besides as part of a program to secure Israeli dominance of the
Middle East. Therefore, Middle Eastern oil has participated as a fundamental role in the
increase and maintenance of the supremacy of the U.S. |

British American Studies Civil Rights Refining African American Image |
Index. décimale : |
420 Langue anglaise |
Résumé : |
American commercial films reflect the domination of the white society; they are rather influential on the American psyche since their early beginnings. If truth be told, representations of African Americans in films changed throughout time and started to notice a progress up from the 1960s. This study probes into the relationship between the civil rights movement and the progress of African American representations from the 1960s to the late 1970s. It encompasses the effective means to eliminate the evil of racial discrimination on the parts of black activists. This study depicts the steps of progress of the African American depictions in motion picture from the late nineteenth century to the late twentieth century. Moreover, it examines the crusades of black activists to bring about equality for the black race. |
