Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The present study aims at investigating the extent to which the use of meaningful learning
improves students’ acquisition and retention of vocabulary. Interest in this topic stems from the
fact that vocabulary is very significant for language learners and looking for efficient ways, such
as meaningful learning, to teach it is imperative. We hypothesised that the use of the theory of
meaningful learning in the teaching of vocabulary is likely to help first year students to learn
vocabulary items and retain them for a long period of time. In order to verify this hypothesis, two
questionnaires were administered: one to 18 permanent teachers and another to 50 first year
students at the department of English of Brothers Mentouri University, during the academic year

Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Sciences difficulties speaking overcome them Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The objective of this work is to discover the major difficulties language learners encounter
when learning speaking. In addition to, look for feasible solutions that help them overcome
them and form an environment where oral abilities are learnt effectively and a fine level in
speaking is attained. We have chosen this topic because we wanted to know the importance of
speaking among foreign language learners and investigate the different strains they face
willing to solve these ones and to develop the verbal capacities of students studying English
as a foreign language. In this study, we hypothesized that Master 1 students of the Department
of English, Frères Mentouri University of Constantine, come across many obstacles in the oral
expression session that prevent effective learning of the speaking skill and that if these
problems are overcome, then teaching speaking will be effective. To collect helpful
information we have selected to work with both teachers of oral expression and Master 1
English students option Language. The data were gathered through teachers’ and students’
questionnaires. This tool is chosen because it seems suitable for collecting useful information
considering this topic. The results obtained revealed that both the students and the teachers are
aware of the importance of the speaking skill in language learning and think that it is the most
important ability among all other language macro skills. Moreover, the problems that students
face while speaking are chiefly shyness, lack of participation, absence of information on the
subject matter, anxiety and fear of making mistakes as stated by educators and students
themselves. Furthermore, some possible solutions were given such as taking into
consideration the significance of taking part in the classroom, listening to their instructors’
recommendations, and concentrating on basics that shape a good and successful speakingDiplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=4668 Students’ difficulties in speaking and how to overcome them : The case of master 1 lmd efl students at fréres mentouri university- constantine [texte imprimé] / Abdelaziz Chikh, Auteur ; Chouaf Chahrazed, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2017 . - 73 f. ; 30 cm.

Titre : Students' knowledge of english for tourism : The case of master 1 applied linguistics students in the department of english language university of mentouri brothers Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Bilel Lahlah, Auteur ; Khaoula Kammas, Auteur ; Chouaf Chahrazed, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2015 Importance : 56 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Applied Language Studies Students' knowledge tourism Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : For being good users of English, learners ought to have large vocabulary banks and master a number of registers. One of the most useful registers is that of „English for tourism‟ because it is highly probable that EFL learners communicate with native speakers in this world of globalization and internet widespread use. This research aims at investigating the problems faced by students in understanding and using English for tourism. It is an attempt to shed some light on how students understand and explain touristic terms and vocabulary items along with some international signs used in this field. The purpose behind the present study is to raise awareness towards the importance of including English for tourism as an integral part of ESP courses in order to improve students‟ communicative competence. To gather as much information as possible about students‟ potential interaction with English touristic terminologies, a questionnaire and a test are used. The results obtained from both tools (students‟ questionnaire and test) revealed that students were, on the whole, unable to deal with English touristic terms successfully. Also, students reported to have some lack of communicative competence in this regard. Following these results, we suggest that Constantine Mentouri Brothers University should program English for tourism as a part of ESP syllabus.
