Résumé : |
collocations are the result of their unfamiliarity with English language and culture. The
hypothesis is that students are unfamiliar with most English collocations and their use of this
aspect is influenced by their mother tongue. A test which consists of translating a group of
Arabic collocations into English is administered to 50 first year Master students of Applied
La
rabic language.
Students ought to improve their competence in collocations and teachers should draw the
awareness of this phenomenon and therefore to overcome the difficulties they face in
translation. |
