Résumé : |
The present study examines the translation of neologisms in the Simpsons to show how the translator deals with this kind of words. It highlights the concept of neologisms, their word formation process, and their classifications. It also discusses translation procedures used to translate such phenomenon. To check the validity of the hypothesis and enhance the credibility of the findings, different episodes from the animation series “THE SIMPSONS” are selected to gather the required data. The English script is compared to Arabic scripts used for the subtitling. Then, the translation of the neologism is analyzed based on the translation procedures discussed in chapter one. The analysis of the data leads us to refute the hypothesis based on the assumption that transliteration is the most frequently used procedure when translating neologisms. |
