The Writing Skill Cooperative Learning The Analysis of Teacher and Student Questionnaires |
Index. décimale : |
420 Langue anglaise |
Résumé : |
Writing in a foreign language is one of the most difficult tasks for language learners.
Many learners of English face several problems when they write. Some of them cannot
produce an adequate piece of writing because it requires a lot of efforts and practices in order
to achieve an acceptable level. The current study aims at investigating the attitudes that are
held by both teachers and students towards the impact of cooperative learning on enhancing
learners writing skill. Therefore, we hypothesize that if teachers hold positive attitudes
towards cooperative learning, they would use it to enhance the students writing skill. In order
to check the validity of our hypothesis, two questionnaires were administrated to 09 Written
Expression teachers and 37 from 310 3rd year students from the Department of Letters and the
English Language, Des Frères Mentouri University, Constantine. The findings of the analysis of
the teacher’s questionnaire reveals that teachers and students are aware of the importance of
cooperative leaning on the students’ writing achievements. In addition, most of them believe
that this strategy can be an effective tool to promote student’s writing level where students
can learn, explain to each other and negotiate meaning in a more comfortable setting. Thus,
the results gathered in this study confirmed the research hypothesis. |
