Reading comprehension is a difficult skill because of the students’ different reading issues. This study is an attempt to investigate the effects of using cooperative learning strategy as a technique to improve first-year students reading performance. In order to check this impact, we hypothesized that if teachers of English use cooperative learning in the classroom, learners’ reading comprehension ability will be enhanced. The descriptive method was used; two questionnaires were administered, respectively, to students (40 participants) and to teachers (10 subjects) both selected randomly at the Department of Arts and English Language at Frère Mentouri University, Constantine. The findings of this study indicate that the majority of teachers are interested in the positive and affective side of cooperative learning strategy in creating motivated learning atmosphere for students. In addition, cooperative language learning gives students more opportunities and decision making for helping each other to develop their reading abilities. Additionally, the results show that students have positive attitudes towards cooperative learning, and that they enjoy being engaged in cooperative learning activities because it helps to create suitable situations where they can use language without hesitation. Moreover, Cooperative Language Learning increases the students’ opportunities of sharing their ideas and knowledge about reading Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=4338 Investigates the effects of cooperative learning strategy on students’ attitudes towards reading comprehension. : The case of first-year EFL students at frères Mentouri university, Constantine. developing the communicative abilities of second year university students at the English
Department. In order to check this correlation, we have hypothesized that if teachers use
cooperative learning in class, they will be able to help Second-Year English students to
enhance their communicative competence in speaking skill. To test the validity of our
hypothesis, we have carried out an investigation through a students’ questionnaire and a
teachers’ questionnaire. Students’ questionnaire consists of fifteen questions and administered
to ninety second year students at the English Department. The teachers’ questionnaire is
composed of fourteen questions given to eight teachers of oral expression. The results of the
study have shown that the use of cooperative learning has positive effect on communicative
competenceDiplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6440 Developing communicative competence through cooperative learning : The case of second year english students at the university of constantine [texte imprimé] / Hasna Menacer, Auteur ; Imadeddine Saieb, Auteur ; Rym Kemmouche, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2015 . - 89 f. ; 30 cm.

Moreover, third year teachers of English care about the affective side of the students and use CL techniques to motivate them to learn. Thus, the research hypotheses were confirmedDiplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6850 Enhancing students’ motivation through cooperative learning techniques : Case study: third year lmd students of english at ben m’hidi university, oum el bouaghi [texte imprimé] / Amel Ouali, Auteur ; Sarah Merrouche, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2012 . - 103 f. ; 30 cm.

Titre : Practicing the students-centred method and cooperative learning : case of third year classes in the department letters and english language, Constantine 1 University Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Najat Khaldi, Auteur ; Abdelhak Nemouchi, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2013 Importance : 82 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : StLanguage Sciences sudents centred Method Cooperative Learning Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The rapid changes in the world whether the technological, the political or the social ones had imposed analogous changes in the field of education as well. Old curriculums and syllabuses of education are no longer useful for the current time; many approaches, methods, and techniques had been modified, expired or simply become old fashioned. This study is concerned with those changes; more precisely how the educational system changed from the Teacher-centred to the Student-centred method. The former has become one of the most advocated approaches all over the world with regard to its concrete satisfactory results. The research in hand deals with the implementation of the Student-centred method in the daily classroom subjects in relation with Cooperative Learning which is considered as one of the most motivational techniques to gain student’s involvement in the classroom activities. This research is carried out by means of two questionnaires; one for 12 teachers of English and the other for 40 students of third year English at the department of Letters and English language. The analysis of the questionnaires’ results reveal that most teachers in Constantine 1 University are using the Student-centred method and their awareness of this method leads most of time to effective learning outcomes. Moreover, most teachers are implementing Cooperative Learning in their classes, due to its motivational benefits on the student’s learning; they notice the students’ increasing willingness to learn, understand and involve in the topic in hand when they work cooperatively. Students, too, claim that they find the Student-centred method and Cooperative Learning much more interesting and fun; they enhance their abilities for searching information, their critical thinking and self-dependent strategies to learn. These results lead us to confirm the validity of the suggested hypothesis which stipulates that Student-centred method and Cooperative Learning correlate positively with the student’s positive achievement and motivation.
