Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The aim of this study is to investigate the relation between learning slang via TV shows and how this could prove to be very helpful when it comes to sharpening communication skills. It hypothesizes that the more a person is exposed to TV shows, the larger their slang vocabulary repertoire gets. Moreover, the more a person learns slang the easier it gets to communicate and conversate with native speakers. In order to check the validity of this hypothesis, a two parts questionnaire was administrated to Master 2 English students of the University of Constantine 1. The questionnaire includes 19 questions. The first part of it deals with the students’ exposure to TV shows whereas the second deals with their recognition of common everyday slang expressions and words.
