Résumé : |
The purpose of this research is to shed light on the importance of teaching research methodology. It seeks to determine the common difficulties that students may face when selecting a topic for a research. The hypothesis of this research is that if second year English
Master students of Applied Languages at Mentouri University Constantine do not master their methodology lessons they will not know what procedures ought to be taken to select an appropriate dissertation topic and to conduct a research. To confirm this hypothesis, we have
administered two questionnaires: one to a randomly selected sample of second year English Master students of applied languages at Mentouri University of Constantine, and the other one to a randomly selected sample of supervisors. Both questionnaires have been analysed and the
obtained results demonstrate that students encounter many difficulties when selecting and when investigating their topic. Consequently, knowledge of methodology has an important and an effective role throughout the research process and specifically during the process of
selecting an appropriate dissertation topic and conducting a research. |
