For most teachers, achieving effective teaching is in their top priority. Yet, to achieve such
perfection is impossible but a certain degree of effectiveness can be reached. A wide range of
various strategies are founded to complete such a feat. Thus it is possible for most teachers to
transmit their lessons in very fruitful manners, by these strategies, they can stimulate their
students’ motivation and they can also keep it for the duration of the lesson. Completing these
deeds not only allow teachers to inspire their students, they also permit them to harvest valuable
experience by every second passing. In this research we shall expose these strategies to the
readers to allow them to discover what kind of approaches are effective in generating and
upholding students’ motivation. This research is divided into two main chapters; the first one
which is wholly theoretical, it contains definition to motivation and a broad view on the theories
of motivation in psychology. Also in the first chapter, there is a discussion about some techniques
and their effects on stimulating students’ motivation. On the other hand, the second chapter of
this research is mainly practical. This research is based on the hypothesis saying that “middle
school pupils’ motivation to learn English will increase if their teachers apply the appropriate
strategies in classroom.” To check the validity of this hypothesis, two questionnaires are
distributed to a sample of teachers and students alike from Quarboaa Middle School in Elkhroub
Constantine. The results of the analysis of the questionnaires point out that teachers’ awareness
of most of the proposed strategies had a positive impact on their pupils. |
