Titre : African Americans: the road to political topoliticaequality, 1950-2008 Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Fatima Zohra Hosna, Auteur ; D ZINE, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Importance : 68.f Format : 30.cm Langues : Anglais (eng) Langues originales : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Langue Anglaise Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The objective of this research work is to demonstrate the steadiness of the African Americans’
struggle for decades to face both racism and segregation endured since their establishment in the
United States of America territories. Their movements for civil rights have certainly led to
advances such as in years 1964 and 1965 respectively, with the Act of Civic Duty and the right
to vote but many inequalities remain. Gains are also to be recorded in their fight for equality and
especially in the political sphere as the election of a black candidate in the White House in 2008,
and which lasted beyond one term, besides the appointment of a Minister from the colored
minority. However, up to now, racism persists and is still requiring the continuity of the fight for
more equal opportunities for all the citizens of America.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=2256 African Americans: the road to political topoliticaequality, 1950-2008 [texte imprimé] / Fatima Zohra Hosna, Auteur ; D ZINE, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, [s.d.] . - 68.f ; 30.cm.

groups live side by side, was and remains an exceptional nation through its history, the
composition of its inhabitants and the vastness of its territory. The question to raise is whether
the ruling authorities applied a double standard domestic policy towards human rights from
1950 to 1960 or not. We can say that the double standard policy was clearly perceived
because the degree of enforcement of laws turned out to be very low due to the opposition of
southern states, former supporters of slavery. But, it must be recognized that this period saw a
great breakthrough regarding human rights. Indeed, the two most important laws of racial
segregation in the field of education and transportation were declared unconstitutional by
judges of the Supreme Court. Moreover, the abuses recorded from 1950 to 1960 by the anticommunist
movement of McCarthyism were stopped in 1954 in the name of freedom of
expression. The American double standard policy towards human rights started to end thanks
to many fair and modernist leaders who paved the way for egalitarianism and true justiceDiplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=2250 The american double standard domestic policy towards human rights, 1950-1960 [texte imprimé] / Djamil Rachid Benelmouffok, Auteur ; D ZINE, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2016 . - 57.f ; 30.cm.

Titre : The experience of african-american soldiers during the second world war -a continuation of the status quo or a change - : A dissertation submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the master degree in british and american studies. Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Imen Ait Youcef, Auteur ; D ZINE, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2016 Importance : 59.f Format : 30 cm Note générale : copie électronique disponible Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Langue Anglaise Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : During the Second World War, thousands of African-American soldiers participated, believing that their contribution on the battlefield would lead to increased civil rights both at home and in the military. Despite their patriotism, they faced racial discrimination and were subjected to racial prejudice. Due to the harsh treatment and the discriminatory practices, African-American activism and protest began to surge. African-American leaders fought for a double victory, victory at home and victory abroad. In that response, in 1942, the Pisttburgh Courier, the nation’s largest black newspaper, started the Double V campaign, which stressed the right of African-Americans to have equality in the United States since they were fighting inequality abroad. The struggle that African-American soldiers carried on, took on special significance when the army started its action towards integration, and the American society began to recognize the rights of African-American citizens.
