Chopin devoted many of her works to married women who struggle to establish their individuality and freedom despite the constraints of the society. Her last novel, The Awakening (1899), engendered wide critical responses for its bold portrayal of a married woman’s passions. Her years in Louisiana and family life shaped the exploration of these intense feelings. With courage and art, Chopin forges in The Awakening and other short stories an emancipated fiction at a time when 19th century women writers were only supposed to depict morally and socially decent protagonists. She reveals in The Awakening the detrimental power of passions that should conventionally be buried, never to be known. Her careful treatment and subtle writing made of her one of the most important 19th century American writers of fiction. Lucky Jim Look Back in Anger frustration aggression unfulfillment social
classes women overt vs covert anger futile vs fertile anger actionIndex. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The present thesis is a comparative study of two “Angry Young Men”‟s works:
Kingsley Amis‟ novel Lucky Jim (1954) and John Osborne‟s play Look Back in Anger (1956).
It mainly analyses the common theme of „anger‟, its causes, forms and results, found in both
works. In the light of Psychoanalytic and Historical theories, this comparison aims at
demonstrating how the protagonists‟ „anger‟ is mainly caused by frustration, which arises
from unfulfilled expectations in a hopeless society. It also investigates the different forms in
which the protagonists express their anger. Interestingly, however, the anger induced by
frustration is a dual force that can either be sterile, leading to the individual‟s self-destruction,
or fertile, if turned into constructive actionDiplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=5154 Anger in kingsley amis’ lucky jim and john osborne’s look back in anger: a comparative study [texte imprimé] / Sarra Grendi, Auteur ; Hamoudi Boughenout, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2017 . - 87 f. ; 30 cm.

Titre : Apocalyptic spirituality in Jack Kerouac's on the road : A thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master in American and british studies Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Amira Halim, Auteur ; Hamoudi Boughenout, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2011 Importance : 53 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : British Studies Apocalyptic Spirituality Jack Kerouac Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : In his novel On the Road, Jack Kerouac shows the Beat Generation's spiritual dissent against the American society after the Second World War. The Beats base their critique of American materialism upon Oswald Spengler's apocalyptic vision. They see that the American culture is destined to collapse. Accordingly, The Beats introduce their new spiritual culture in terms of self-realization. On the Road depicts this new self-realization culture that is blessed by the marginal identities and the Eastern religions through the Cult of High experience that pave the way for the magic "IT". However, the Beat Generation's spirituality is trapped and restricted under the conception of apocalypse and the required creation of a new culture. Symbolically, the Beat Generation's culture enters an apocalyptic battle against the pre-millennial American culture. Jack Kerouac measures the extent to which the Beats' spiritual culture can stand against the American one. Titre : Carson mccullers’ the heart is a lonely hunter : The novel as autobiography Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Faiza Djaoui, Auteur ; Hamoudi Boughenout, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2012 Importance : 53 f. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : British and American studies Heart Lonely Hunter Novel as Autobiography Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : This dissertation examines the autobiographical elements in Carson McCullers’s
The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter in order to show the interaction between the authors’ own
life and her first novel. It focuses mainly on the novel as autobiography by means of its
events, setting, themes, and a set of characters. Moreover, this work studies the characters
of the novel from different sides. It depicts the author’s personality within the characters
she creates, and how she tackles them as minorities and handicapped characters at the same
time. Generally speaking, this work sheds some light on how The Heart Is a Lonely
Hunter, and especially the most autobiographical of all characters, Mick Kelly, reflect
McCullers’s thoughts, ambitions, attitudes, and personalityDiplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6673 Carson mccullers’ the heart is a lonely hunter : The novel as autobiography [texte imprimé] / Faiza Djaoui, Auteur ; Hamoudi Boughenout, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2012 . - 53 f. ; 30 cm.

Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : British and American Studies Ezra Confucianism Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : This study aims at discovering the impact of the Confucian doctrine on Ezra Pound’s political
and social views in the period from the 1930s until the 1940s. Pound devoted several parts of
his long poem The Cantos to show the importance of the Confucian ideals to prevent the
western civilization from decaying. Pound’s striking use of Chinese characters and his way of
retelling the history of ancient China based on the Confucian teachings made it possible to
twentieth century western readers to understand how to maintain prosperous human
relationships and then to find solutions to the problems of oppression and violence.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6208 Ezra pound and confucianism [texte imprimé] / Kenza Stambouli, Auteur ; Hamoudi Boughenout, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2015 . - 45 f. ; 30 cm.
