Résumé : |
The elections of 1932 were unique. They were a turning point in the future
success of the Democrats and Republicans for over three decades. The New Deal,
brought by the Democrat Franklin Delano Roosevelt, not only did save the economy
and the nation from the deepest Depression ever, but was a cardinal aspect that
upset the world of politics of the time as well. Moreover, it led to a Democratic
landslide to office well into the 1960s. This study demonstrates the importance of the
New Deal in creating realignment in the Party System and in paving the way for the
Democrats’ control of the Federal government for decades to come. The
interventions of the New Deal in local economies contributed to shape the public
electoral view and carry it away from the Republican Party.
