Résumé : |
The purpose of this research is to show the importance of increasing the amount of vocabulary in developing students’ oral fluency, and to reveal that vocabulary gives them opportunities to use the language in a convenient way and whenever possible. The hypothesis of the research suggests that if students enrich their vocabulary knowledge, their oral fluency will be enhanced. This dissertation is intended to investigate the nature of correlation that exists between vocabulary and oral fluency and if the large amount of vocabulary helps learners to speak fluently. To evaluate the relation between the two variables we conduct a test about students’ vocabulary knowledge and an observation about their level in oral fluency. Both the test and the observation are carried out in the oral expression sessions to students of third year LMD English at Constantine 1 University. The test and oral fluency have been assessed, and a test of correlation has been conducted. The obtained results of the study display that oral fluency has a strong positive correlation with the amounts of students’ vocabulary, and elucidate that a large amount of vocabulary helps learners to use the foreign language without any hesitation. |
