Résumé : |
The main aim of the current study is to investigate the role of teachers‘ sociability in enhancing students‘ self-esteem to speak. In other words, in this study we shed light on the concept of teachers‘ sociability as recommended solution to improve students‘ self-esteem that, in turn, leads to better oral engagement. Since students‘ psychological state has direct influence on their academic achievements as far as their speaking skill is concerned, the teachers, as well, have a great influence on the psychological state of their students. To carry out this research and confirm its hypothesis which states that ―if there is higher teacher sociability, students‘ self-esteem to be orally engaged will be increased,‖ two questionnaires have been administered to both students and teachers. Students involved in the questionnaire are randomly chosen among 1st year LMD in the department of English at the University of Brothers Mentouri, Constantine, Algeria. Moreover, a sample of ten (10) oral expression teachers of the same department has been administered a questionnaire. These questionnaires are administered to check whether teachers‘ sociability has an effect on students‘ self-esteem to enhance their oral engagement. In addition to that, this investigation includes the discussion of the results and the comparison between the two questionnaires which enable us to confirm that teachers‘ sociability has, indeed, a great influence on students‘ self-esteem to be orally engaged. |
