Language Sciences Studies Techniques Oratory Requires Good Oral |
Index. décimale : |

Résumé : |
The present research deals with the problems encountered by third year LMD students at the
department of English Letters and Languages at University Constantine 1 while they deliver
their speech. The purpose of this study is to provide the students with the most important and
practical techniques that ought to be followed in preparing and in delivering their oral
presentation. It attempts to find out the obstacles that students face in delivering their speech
and how they can overcome such obstaclesin order to be able to speak and convey their
beliefs, thoughts, attitudes, and values fluently and confidently in public. For this reason, the
hypothesis of our work emphasizes that if English language students applied the oratory
techniques and work on their weaknesses, they would able to speak in public without any
difficulties. A questionnaire composed of eleven different questions on the subject will be
addressed to a group of third year LMD students of English. Another tool is the audio test.
Itattempts to evaluate the ability of students in understanding the previous methods. The
results of our research have revealed that although the students applied the oratory techniques
and they knew their weaknesses, they are still unable to speak fluently in front of an audience
because they did not work on these weaknesses. As a result, they have to train more by
learning and using the effective strategies that can help them to overcome their challenges
since the majority of them have admitted that they ignore about these strategies |

Language Sciences Studies Self-Efficacy Learners’ Achievement |
Index. décimale : |
420 Langue anglaise |
Résumé : |
Self-efficacy is considered as an important factor in the learning process. It can
stimulate as well as increase somebody’s own will in learning. This study traces in brief the
concepts of learning and self-efficacy by reviewing the main definitions, theories and models
that have affected their development. The main endeavor of the present dissertation is to
investigate the impact of students’ self-efficacy in relation to their success in learning the
English language. And to examine to which extent self-efficacy contributes to the prediction
of success. In order to carry out our study we hypothesized that «students’ who develop their
self-efficacy positively are likely to attain high level of achievement concerning learning the
English language ». To reach our stated objectives a students and teachers questionnaire were
designed. The students involved in the questionnaires were randomly chosen among third year
(LMD) students of English as a Foreign Language (Language Sciences) at the University of
Constantine 1. This investigation also includes a discussion of the results, which enable us to
confirm that self-efficacy has indeed a great and strong impact on learners’ academic success
in language learning. Thus, self-efficacy in (English as a Foreign Language) classrooms
especially in our university is a crucial goal that would not be realized unless learners believe
in their capabilities to perform well and achieve better in English language learning. |

Language Sciences Studies Communicative Language Authenticity Oral Skills |
Index. décimale : |
420 Langue anglaise |
Résumé : |
English as a language is seen as a vehicle for the realization of interpersonal
relations. In order to convey and receive an understandable speech, we
certainly need to be fluent in English; that means to have oral skills.
The focus in this research study will be on the effect of CLT authenticity on
students’ oral capacities and if really the use of authentic materials will promote
the development of speaking abilities of Algerian secondary school learners,
with more focus on the use of authentic aids in the adoption of CLT.
The tools applied to achieve the goals of this dissertation are two
questionnaires: the first is directed to twelve English teachers in three
secondary schools in Teleghma, Mila, and the second is addressed to forty
students in the same secondary schools.
The findings obtained from those tools prove that CLT authenticity influences
the students’ oral skills and authentic materials play crucial and active role in
the adoption of CLT properly. Therefore, the main result of this work is that
when teachers want to put CLT in to practice they should provide their
classrooms with authenticity and curriculum designers ought to equip teaching
programs with more authentic spaces |

Index. décimale : |
420 Langue anglaise |
Résumé : |
English is a vehicle for international communication. In order to convey understandable speech, we need to pronounce the language correctly. However, English learners require some aids to help them pronounce accurately. The focus of this dissertation is in the area of teaching pronunciation and the reasons behind students’ failure in pronouncing English correctly in Algerian secondary schools. A specific attention is given to the consequence of the absence of language laboratories on teaching pronunciation as well on the students’ pronunciation. The research method adopted in this dissertation is a questionnaire addressed to twelve English teachers in three secondary schools in Chelghoum Laid, Mila. The findings from this research provide evidence that language laboratories have great importance in teaching English pronunciation, and that all teachers like to include audio-visual aids in their classroom instruction in order to teach pronunciation appropriately. The insufficient time devoted to phonetic courses is listed at the top of the reasons that lead to learners’ mispronunciation of English. The main conclusion drawn from this study is that teaching pronunciation requires the use of authentic materials, and it is time for the Algerian educational system to include new technological aids in the classrooms. Learners should also be given more time to practice the language and to learn its phonetics |
