Résumé : |
The present research deals with the problems encountered by third year LMD students at the
department of English Letters and Languages at University Constantine 1 while they deliver
their speech. The purpose of this study is to provide the students with the most important and
practical techniques that ought to be followed in preparing and in delivering their oral
presentation. It attempts to find out the obstacles that students face in delivering their speech
and how they can overcome such obstaclesin order to be able to speak and convey their
beliefs, thoughts, attitudes, and values fluently and confidently in public. For this reason, the
hypothesis of our work emphasizes that if English language students applied the oratory
techniques and work on their weaknesses, they would able to speak in public without any
difficulties. A questionnaire composed of eleven different questions on the subject will be
addressed to a group of third year LMD students of English. Another tool is the audio test.
Itattempts to evaluate the ability of students in understanding the previous methods. The
results of our research have revealed that although the students applied the oratory techniques
and they knew their weaknesses, they are still unable to speak fluently in front of an audience
because they did not work on these weaknesses. As a result, they have to train more by
learning and using the effective strategies that can help them to overcome their challenges
since the majority of them have admitted that they ignore about these strategies |
