Résumé : |
This study delves into the effective role of Phil Ochs’ anti-Vietnam music in shaping
the American public opposition to the Vietnam War. Thus, conducting the American
government to change its foreign policy towards the Vietnam. It also spots light on the
indirect and transitive relation between Phil Ochs, the American public opinion, and the
changes of American foreign policy in the Vietnam. This study is divided into three
main chapters. The first one contextualizes the research through providing a full
definition of political music and its aims of emergence. Then, it studies music as
conveyor of political messages. It ends up by giving a general idea about the Vietnam
War, Phil Ochs and the reasons behind choosing it for the study. The second chapter
sheds light on how Phil Ochs’ music played the role of affecting the public opinion and
how was the direct and immediate reaction of his audience. Finally, the third chapter
shows the development of the public response as a reaction to the course of the Vietnam
War. Furthermore, it deals with the reaction of Johnson’s administration to the protests
against the war via changing policies in the Vietnam. |
