Résumé : |
Note-taking is widely accepted as an important academic task which is most used by students while attending lectures. However, the main problem foreign language students may encounter is that many of them are not aware of the effective methods of note-taking and how to apply them. The current study, then, aims at spotting light on the importance of using note-taking strategy and its crucial role in enhancing foreign language learning. Therefore, we hypothesized that if students of English use note-taking strategy effectively while lecturing, it would be a helpful means in the foreign language learning. In order to verify the validity of the previously mentioned hypothesis, two questionnaires were addressed to both teachers and students. The teacher questionnaire was administrated to fifteen English foreign language teachers in the department of English at Constantine University, seeking to know their opinions about the students’ use of the note-taking strategy in foreign language learning. The student questionnaire was directed to forty Master one students in the same department and University, to investigate their opinions about note-taking, its different formats and its impact on their learning performance. The main results obtained from both students’ and teachers’ reactions reveal that students are in fact aware of the importance of note-taking strategy and its assistance in foreign language learning, though they do not use it effectively |
