Based on that, we derived the problem that students obviously face situations which do not go in harmony with their learning styles, and this leads to a deficiency in their learning process of the English language. In this research, we tried to investigate the role of learning strategies in the process of learning English and their impact on adapting students‟ learning styles in situations in which these learning styles are not addressed. We hypothesised that if students use learning strategies that correspond to their learning styles, they would learn English effectively. As a means of research, we used two questionnaires addressed to both students and teachers to check our hypothesis. The students‟ questionnaire was handed in to forty Master One students of English (Language Sciences) at the Department of English at Constantine 1 University. The teachers‟ questionnaire was given to ten teachers in the same department. The results of the questionnaires revealed that learning styles and learning strategies have a great importance in learning English, because students usually use them together when they learn English. In other words, students use learning strategies to guide their learning styles to be effective in all situations which allow them to learn English effectively. The results also revealed that learning strategies and learning styles influence each other, and that students are aware of this influence. In addition, teachers are aware of the importance of learning strategies, and that it is important for students to be able to use strategies that match their learning styles so that they can learn English efficiently. Therefore, teachers can improve their students‟ command of English by helping them develop and adopt learning strategies that match their learning styles. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en Bus Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Science Studies Assessment Reading under the Competency-Based Language Teaching Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : This work aims at analyzing the assessment methods of reading comprehension mostly conducted in fourth-year classes of Algerian middle schools, then discussing and verifying their compatibility with the assessment criteria of the Competency-Based Approach to Language Teaching (CBALT) which is a new approach of teaching and competencies assessment. For this purpose, we have hypothesized that if reading comprehension assessment in English in the Algerian fourth-year middle school matches the CBALT assessment criteria, then it will probably show pupils' competencies. To test our hypothesis, a classroom observation at a middle school has been carried out in three out of six classes of Grade 4 pupils. The observed classes consisted of 29 pupils i.e. 87 pupils out of 174. The subjects of this study are 15 / 16 years old. The observation aims first at identifying and evaluating reading comprehension activities in the two sequences “Read and Consider” and “Reading and Writing”, in File Five: “Dreams, Dreams…” of the fourth-year middle school textbook, On the Move. The second aim was to know whether the assessment matches the norms under the Competency-Based Approach to Language Teaching. To this end, reading comprehension activities both in the classroom and in the final examination (BEM: Brevet d’Enseignement Moyen) were evaluated. The results came to validate and confirm our hypothesis in that the methods of assessing reading comprehension were incompatible with the CABLT assessment standards and do not assess efficiently pupils’ competencies. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Science Studies Test Taking Improving Performance Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The present research is intended to investigate the extent to which students’ use of test taking
strategies before, during and after tests/exams affect their test performance. Particular
attention is given to this subject matter because taking tests is an integral part of the learning
process, and for many students is not only the most important but also the hardest part. As a
result, we hypothesize that, when students utilize test-taking strategies effectively, they will
probably be able to get good results. We try to check the validity of this hypothesis through
the administration of one questionnaire to a sample of fifty third year LMD students from the
English department at Mentouri Brothers University. The findings of the study show that
there is a significant relationship between using strategies and students’ success, especially
when they are used in the right way. Also, students believe that test taking strategies can help
them a lot in lessening test anxiety and becoming more confident. Hence, learners’
achievements and getting high scores depend to a good extent on the effective use of test
taking strategiesDiplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6189 Students’ use of test taking strategies for improving their performance in language exams : The case of third year students of english at les frères mentouri university, constantine [texte imprimé] / Nawel Benabdelali, Auteur ; Soulef Daoudi, Auteur ; Chouaf Chahrazed, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2015 . - 62 f. ; 30 cm.

Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Science Studies Using Educational Games Teaching Vocabulary Knowledge Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : Teaching new vocabulary items is a challenge that every teacher always faces. Educational
games have the advantage of creating not only a playful, but at the same time a beneficial
context for teaching learners unfamiliar words, especially beginners. This research work aims
at investigating the significance of implementing educational games into third year
elementary level classes to teach English language vocabulary. In the sense of, evaluating
how such integration can improve learners’ vocabulary knowledge. In order to accomplish
this aim, we relied on two means of research: teachers’ questionnaire and student experiment.
First, the teachers’ questionnaire was handed to collect data about their concern of the
affective side of their learners, the various techniques they usually depend on to explain some
unfamiliar words and their views concerning educational games as a teaching technique.
Second, the test was administered to a randomly selected group of thirty-one students. This
test was conducted before and after they were exposed to three educational games to be
played in three separate sessions. In this respect, the intended aim is to examine whether
educational games had an influence on students vocabulary knowledge improvement. The
obtained results of this investigation confirmed the hypothesis and proved that learners who
participate in the experiment have learnt almost all the new vocabulary items after being
taught through different educational games. Besides, learners have also shown an enjoyment
and an interest in this type of material. Based on these results, it is recommended that
educational games should be integrated into third grade EFL classes as a vocabulary teaching
technique. We proved that it creates a joyful atmosphere, motivates and attracts students’
attention and consequently facilitates the improvement of their vocabulary knowledge.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6400 The effectiveness of using educational games as a teaching technique to improve students’ vocabulary knowledge : Case study of 3rd year middle school pupils at karboua abdelhamid in elkhroub [texte imprimé] / Amina (Eng) Foughali, Auteur ; Anfel Khelia, Auteur ; Yasmine Bahchachi, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2015 . - 102 f. ; 30 cm.

However, the main problem foreign language students may encounter is that many of them are not aware of the effective methods of note-taking and how to apply them. The current study, then, aims at spotting light on the importance of using note-taking strategy and its crucial role in enhancing foreign language learning. Therefore, we hypothesized that if students of English use note-taking strategy effectively while lecturing, it would be a helpful means in the foreign language learning. In order to verify the validity of the previously mentioned hypothesis, two questionnaires were addressed to both teachers and students. The teacher questionnaire was administrated to fifteen English foreign language teachers in the department of English at Constantine University, seeking to know their opinions about the students’ use of the note-taking strategy in foreign language learning. The student questionnaire was directed to forty Master one students in the same department and University, to investigate their opinions about note-taking, its different formats and its impact on their learning performance. The main results obtained from both students’ and teachers’ reactions reveal that students are in fact aware of the importance of note-taking strategy and its assistance in foreign language learning, though they do not use it effectively Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=5083 The importance of note-taking strategy in efl learning: teachers’ and students’ perspectives : The case of master students of english at the university of “des frères mentouri, constantine [texte imprimé] / Ilhem Kahoul, Auteur ; Nouha Berguellah, Auteur ; Khadidja Kouicem, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2017 . - 109 f. ; 30 cm.
