Based on that, we derived the problem that students obviously face situations which do not go in harmony with their learning styles, and this leads to a deficiency in their learning process of the English language. In this research, we tried to investigate the role of learning strategies in the process of learning English and their impact on adapting students‟ learning styles in situations in which these learning styles are not addressed. We hypothesised that if students use learning strategies that correspond to their learning styles, they would learn English effectively. As a means of research, we used two questionnaires addressed to both students and teachers to check our hypothesis. The students‟ questionnaire was handed in to forty Master One students of English (Language Sciences) at the Department of English at Constantine 1 University. The teachers‟ questionnaire was given to ten teachers in the same department. The results of the questionnaires revealed that learning styles and learning strategies have a great importance in learning English, because students usually use them together when they learn English. In other words, students use learning strategies to guide their learning styles to be effective in all situations which allow them to learn English effectively. The results also revealed that learning strategies and learning styles influence each other, and that students are aware of this influence. In addition, teachers are aware of the importance of learning strategies, and that it is important for students to be able to use strategies that match their learning styles so that they can learn English efficiently. Therefore, teachers can improve their students‟ command of English by helping them develop and adopt learning strategies that match their learning styles. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language sciences EFL Students Vocabulary Knowledge through Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The present study seeks to investigate the significance of using role play strategy for enhancing EFL students‟ vocabulary. We aim to spot light on the role of using such a strategy during oral expression class for gaining more lexical knowledge. The motives behind carrying out this study originate from the fact that vocabulary is a major hindrance for EFL learners as they find it very difficult to communicate their ideas freely either orally or in the written form. To achieve the aforementioned aim, two means of data collection are used: two questionnaires and a test. The former are given to both oral expression teachers and a sample of 35 first- year LMD students to know about teachers‟ and the students‟ opinions about role play strategy, its use in oral expression class, and its importance for students‟ vocabulary improvement. The latter (the students‟ test) is used to measure the improvement of vocabulary among students due to the implementation of role play activity. The results of the field work have been in the direction of the study hypothesis. They have clearly shown that role play strategy is very significant for students to enrich their vocabulary knowledge.
