Titre : The importance of proofreading in minimizing mistakes in students’ writings : A case study: third year students at Constantine University 1 Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Alaa Eddine Ghecil, Auteur ; Mohammed Ouskourt, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2013 Importance : 73 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Sciences Writing Proofreading Mistakes Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The current study aims at investigating the importance and the positive effects of proofreading in minimizing mistakes in the students‟ writings. The central objective of this research is to make students more conscious about the effectiveness of proofreading; meanwhile, we want to verify whether students proofread their writings. Hence, I hypothesized that if 3rd year students of the University of Constantine proofread their writings, they will reduce the number of mistakes they make in their writings; therefore, they would doubtless produce good compositions. In order to check the validity of this research hypothesis, two research tools were implemented: a students‟ questionnaire and an in- class writing test. Both the questionnaire and the test were administered to the 3rd year students at the University of Constantine. The analysis and the discussion of the data obtained from the questionnaire and the in-class writing test have displayed that the majority of students made a considerable number of mistakes at the different levels: grammar, spelling, punctuation and capitalization. To put it differently, the majority of the students showed a total neglect of the proofreading strategy and this would usually lead to produce poor pieces of writing. However, after raising students‟ awareness about proofreading, its different strategies and its importance, they could really reduce a significant number of mistakes already marked in their writings. Therefore, my research hypothesis has fortunately been confirmed. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Applied Language Studies Building English Idiomatic Writing Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The present research, which is made up of two chapters, is conducted to check then build up
Master One students’ awareness of idioms. It is in an attempt to draw their attention to the
importance of using figures of speech in academic written production, for example idioms. We
noticed a lack of knowledge of idioms amongst Master One students of English Civilization and
Literature in the Department of Languages, as well as, simple writings, poor of images and
figures of speech in general. So, we decided to initiate an awareness building about idioms. We
focused on showing them how they can make their compositions more interesting and aesthetic
using the Idiomatic Expressions. We came up with two hypotheses; the first one is that if
students are introduced to idioms, then their ability of understanding and appropriately using
them will be higher. The second hypothesis is: the more these students use idioms in their
writing the more expressive, vivid and prestigious it gets. In order to validate such hypotheses
we designed a pre-test to check their awareness, a post-test to check the effectiveness of the two
courses given after the pre-test. These courses were to introduce the students to idioms and their
importance in writing. The results obtained showed a lack of students knowledge of idioms and a
lack of mastery. They also proved the effectiveness of our introduction of idioms and thus, our
first hypothesis was confirmed. However, the results have also shown that it was not effective
enough to make these students use idioms in their writings. We concluded saying that students
need more lectures, time and especially more practice to use idioms in writing.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6663 An awareness building about the english idiomatic expressions and their use in writing : The case of master one students of english civilization and literature university of constantine [texte imprimé] / Sawsen Benane, Auteur ; Zakaria Bensahih, Auteur ; Nacif Labed, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2011 . - 66 f. ; 30 cm.

Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Applied Language Studies Error Analysis Writing Second Year Students Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The present study aims at analyzing fifty essays produced by second year students of English at University of Frères Mentouri, Constantine in order to arrive at an identification, classification and an explanation for the most occurring errors in these students‟ written production. The study also seeks to suggest a number of pedagogical recommendations to improve the writing quality of students through reducing their errors. Through corpus analysis, this research intends to answer two main questions about the most occurring type of errors and their main reason(s). It was hypothesized that grammatical errors have the highest frequency of occurrence; however, the analysis reveals that form errors are predominant. Results also show that interference of the mother tongue is the primary reason behind the errors. Eventually, it is suggested to involve students in more reading-based tasks to help them improve their knowledge of English; thus, decreasing the number of errors in their writings. Titre : Investigating the learners awareness of the importance of using writing techniques to enhance the writing skill : The case of second and third year LMD students of english at the university of brothers Mentouri, Constantine Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : rayene Benharkou, Auteur ; Esma Benhadid, Auteur ; Nesrine Hamani, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2017 Importance : 55 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en BUC. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Applied Language Studies writing techniques learners skill Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : There are two categories of people who might be interested in the writing activity:
those who want to be specialized in the teaching of English as a second/foreign
language, and those who want to learn how to become good English writers. Future
teachers may benefit from some theoretical notions regarding the teaching of
English as a second/foreign language, which allows them to develop new teaching
strategies for various level of proficiency. Students may benefit from an instructive
approach to develop their skills from the writing perspective. This dissertation is
intended to investigate the importance of teaching writing techniques (grammar,
spelling, vocabulary, punctuation, capitalisation, coherence and unity), and the
effectiveness of 2nd and 3rd year students’ written expression curriculum at the
Department of English language, of Brothers Mentouri, on improving their writing
proficiency. In order to achieve this research, an extensive study is conducted and it
is divided into two chapters: a theoretical and practical one. We have relied heavily
on two means of research First, a questionnaire has been administered to teachers to
collect data about the importance of teaching writing techniques. Second, a test has
been given to second year students to test their abilities in writing effective and
correct essay. Thirdly, another test has been administered to third year students to
investigate whether or not they respect the writing rules when performing the task of
writing. The data obtained have proved that there must be some modifications to be
made in second and third year students’ curricula; the students’ writings would be
much improved if they respect the writing rules when performing the task of writing.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=4440 Investigating the learners awareness of the importance of using writing techniques to enhance the writing skill : The case of second and third year LMD students of english at the university of brothers Mentouri, Constantine [texte imprimé] / rayene Benharkou, Auteur ; Esma Benhadid, Auteur ; Nesrine Hamani, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2017 . - 55 f. ; 30 cm.

Titre : Writing a dissertation depends to a large extent on students : Generic skills for an eficient use of Time management Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Karim Hakim Khoualdi, Auteur ; Said oucif kecheha, Auteur ; Azddine Boulfelfel, Directeur de thèse Editeur : CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine Année de publication : 2013 Importance : 79 f. Format : 30 cm. Note générale : Une copie électronique PDF disponible en Bus Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Lettres et Langues Etrangères:Langue Anglaise Tags : Language Studies Writing Dissertation Depends Extent Students Index. décimale : 420 Langue anglaise Résumé : The process of writing a dissertation needs in general a lot of skills. This work studies
the use of time management in writing dissertations. In other words, it investigates the use of
time during this process to know how much students are aware of the importance of managing
and controlling their time. It is hypothesized that Master 2 students, in the Department of
letters and English language, university of Constantine01, will have a successful time
management and complete their work on time if they are aware of its importance and the use
of the appropriate strategies, and also know how to avoid wasters of time especially
procrastination. We have used a questionnaire to check the hypothesis by asking -a sample of
30 students among the whole population- various questions related to this subject. The results
show that students encounter different problems during the process of writing a dissertation.
Among the difficulties they have to cope with, finding reliable resources is uppermost in their
minds; as such, they suffer a lot from the problem of wasting time. Although they recognize
the importance of time management in writing their dissertation, they cannot avoid
procrastination. At last, it has been shown that students know some basic techniques of time
management but, unfortunately, they do not practice them efficiently.Diplome : Master 2 Permalink : https://bu.umc.edu.dz/master/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=3652 Writing a dissertation depends to a large extent on students : Generic skills for an eficient use of Time management [texte imprimé] / Karim Hakim Khoualdi, Auteur ; Said oucif kecheha, Auteur ; Azddine Boulfelfel, Directeur de thèse . - CONSTANTINE [ALGERIE] : Université Frères Mentouri Constantine, 2013 . - 79 f. ; 30 cm.
