This study aims to study a problem that students learning English as a foreign language face
in their oral class, which is anxiety and lack of self-esteem. We hypothesize that if students
are confident about their performance, they will speak well and communicate easily. To test
this hypothesis, a questionnaire is administered to a sample of third year LMD students, at the
Department of English Arts and Language, University of Constantine 1. The obtained results
show that students are anxious in oral class, and this has serious repercussions on their level
of achievement. Some solutions are suggested in order to give the students the opportunity of
being less anxious and, therefore, more performing in their oral class. |
