Résumé :	This study aims to investigate the difficulties encountered by Master One students of Applied Language Studies and their ability in translating metaphorical expressions from the Holy Quran. The main issue in the research is metaphor, its conceptual meaning and different types and theories. This is because metaphor is considered as the most used figurative image in the language of the Holy Quran. To achieve that aim a test consisting of fourteen verses was given to Master One students of English who were divided into two groups: a control group, and an experimental group. Each group contains fifteen students, the subject students were asked to translate the Quranic verses into English. The results of the analysis of the test have shown that the students who got an explanation about the meaning of the verses, have well performance in translating the Quranic metaphors, better than the students who have no explanation. So that they have faced difficulties in understanding the meaning of the verses and making their equivalents in English. This confirmed the hypothesis which stated that if Master One Students of English as a foreign language had some basic notions on the meanings of the holy Quran; they would manage to translate Quranic metaphors into English
