Résumé : |
The overall aim of this research is to advance an understanding of the impact of song lyrics as a teaching/learning technique on Algerian EFL learners in relation to developing students’ speaking skills. This study tries to determine whether or not the implementation of songs’ lyrics as an approach in oral sessions might enhance 2nd year BA students’ vocabulary at Mentouri University of Constantine. Song as a whole, with its rhythm and lyrics, is a versatile technique, as it enables the teacher to present the words graphically, verbally, and contextually at the same time. The song can change the learners’ mood and it can positively influence their motivation for vocabulary learning. To conduct this investigation, three kinds of tools are used: questionnaires, an experiment, and tests. The questionnaires are used to get insight about teachers and students’ perception of this approach. The test is used to measure students’ vocabulary development after an experiment which in its turn was implemented in order to bring the necessary efficiency of vocabulary teaching and learning strategies. The results clearly show that, song lyrics as a strategy for vocabulary acquisition has been undefeatable |
