The present study is conducted to point out the Affect of spelling mistakes on the writing
skill, especially for third year students of English Applied Language Studies at University of
Frères Mentoury Constantine. It has been hypothesised that: if EFL students do not pay more
attention to spelling, their writing competence will always be questioned. To gather the data
for the research, forty (40) students of English language are selected, and a test in a form of
text dictation is used, and forty (40) students of English language are selected. The analysis of
this test has shown that the majority of participants in this test tend to make mistakes in
spelling, in addition to other mistakes such as: grammar, vocabulary, and punctuation. Based
on these results, some pedagogical recommendations are suggested to help third year students
of English language to become better equipped with spelling awareness to achieve and to
develop their writing skill |
