Résumé : |
This study is an investigative work on the effect of teachers’ classroom praising on
learners’ self- confidency. It aims to explore teachers’ words of praise and the extent
to which these may affect the individual self-confidence of third-year students of
English when learning and attempting to develop their oral proficiency at the
Department of Letters and English Language at the University of Constantine 1. It also
explores students’ attitudes towards praising and to what extent feedback of teachers is
significant as a motivational means for the students’ learning. Our hypothesis is that
the more teachers praised their learners, the more their students’ enthusiasm to learn
English would improve. In this study, we have used both teachers’ and students’
questionnaires as appropriate tools to collect the needed data that we analysed and
discussed. We then have come to the conclusion that teachers’ words of praise are of
significant importance to students’ self-confidence and motivation when the latter
engage in the learning of English oral skills. |
